Growing up you believe the world is meant to be the way it is. The older I get the more I realise that this is not the case. The world is full of injustices and atrocities that governments and the voice of faith expect us to accept, though with each passing year they grow fewer and fewer, at least one would hope. I have created this blog as a space for me to rant about all things science, politics, philosophy and religion, before it’s too late and the vessel of new atheism propelled by a growing surge in secularism solves all of the world’s problems for good.

And the national ban of Kronic comes in... tick tock

Well guess I pulled a Nostradamus on this one, granted how unlikely it was. As of tomorrow (4hrs from now) 8 of the numerous synthetic cannabinoids used to make previously legal substances like Kronic, K2 and Spice, will be outlawed nationally in Australia.

It's amazing how quickly our Government's fear response kicks in, talk about paranoia... like the instinctual fear of the rustle in the grass our ancestors always thought were lions waiting in pounce. I thought we'd outgrown this unnecessary attribute. We don't have to always fear the unknown. Sometimes you just have to let things happen until given enough reason, enough evidence to make a proper decision in the best interest of everyone. This is not it.

Exit, our control on quality, quantity, taxation, age limit and place of use. Enter, control by organised crime, absence of tax, lower quality, higher quantity, no age limit and no control over location of use, not to mention the creation of numerous 'criminals' out of responsible people who still wish to use this substance. But hey, at least the public and the Government are now able to say "it's not our fault, it's illegal therefore we don't share any responsibility of who uses it and what happens". One more benign thing for parents and the public to fear at night. What a good option...
